In a significant relief for Aadhaar card holders, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is set to launch a new mobile application, currently known as E-Aadhaar. This app will empower users to update various Aadhaar card details, including name, address, date of birth, and mobile number, from the comfort of their homes. This eliminates the need to visit Aadhaar centers for updates.
Key Features of the E-Aadhaar App:
• Home-Based Updates: Update Aadhaar details without visiting a center.
• Change Key Information: Modify name, address, date of birth, and mobile number.
• QR Code Sharing: Enable QR code-based Aadhaar sharing.
• Secure Verification: Facilitate mobile-to-mobile and app-to-app Aadhaar verification.
• Secure Data Transfer: Securely transfer Aadhaar details.
UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar stated that 2,000 out of approxim ately 1 lakh Aadhaar update machines have already been connected to this new system.
The Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) recently launched the Aadhaar Good Governance Portal to streamline Aadhaar-related processes, making them easy, fast, and transparent. UIDAI is also preparing to introduce QR code-based verification, allowing secure Aadhaar card sharing for various purposes, such as hotel check-ins, train ticket verification, and government service identification.
What is Aadhaar Card?
Aadhaar card is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Government of India, serving as proof of identity and address. It records personal information and biometric data. Any Indian citizen can apply for Aadhaar after completing UIDAI's verification process.
